On 18 April
2005, both India and Pakistan declared that the peace process now underway is
irreversible. The leaders of both countries met in New Delhi around that time,
and pledged to open further avenues of transport and communication across the
border, while at the same time promising that the steps taken by both sides
could not be allowed to degenerate into the violence and the wars that have
erupted in the past.
And all this is
certainly laudable, and a step in the right direction. After all, it is very
refreshing to see “avowed enemies” taking measures to peacefully bridge the gap
between them, in the hopes of building two nations that are able to co-exist
harmoniously. And it is most noble that this visit from the President of
Pakistan, who came bearing a “message of peace”, was supported by both sides.
This path should be continued so that mutual understanding will eventually
prevail, precluding even the very threat of war. Or, at least, that is what we
all hope.
But what exactly
is the proposed path for this so-called “irreversible peace process”? It is an
attempt to build upon the existing foundation, to weigh and examine all
possible solutions that are available only within the framework of that
particular foundation. And the present foundation is one that has been the
result of many years of violence, bloodshed, hatred, animosity, envy and greed.
At the root of this great divide between India and Pakistan stands the key religious
difference between these two countries, which was the main reason for the
partition at the time of independence. Each side is therefore still firmly
rooted in their own views and opinions, and they want to find solutions to the
problem while at the same time holding onto these differing opinions. And
that is absolutely impossible!
It is
impossible, because that is the very nature of the human spirit on earth. Over
several thousands of years, the human spirit was meant to have developed into a
perfect luminous being, one that swings in all the Laws of Creation, that is to
say, fully obeys the Creator, and thereby lives according to His Will. This
implies attaining a great degree of personal consciousness. The word
“consciousness” is not to be interpreted as simply being aware of one’s
surroundings in a limited sense, but by being completely aware of the
Laws of Creation as they operate in the entire cosmos!
But instead of
developing with that goal in mind, human beings have focussed solely on the
fulfilment of their material needs, for which only their intellect suffices.
Thus the intellect was developed further and further, while the development of
their spirit towards “complete Creation-consciousness” was halted, and all
contact with the spiritual was lost. The very intellect given by God for their
support in the material world then became over-developed, stunted, in a manner not
willed by God. This was bound to have severe consequences.
The great
dissensions among mankind have emerged out of this wrongful development of the
intellect, which latter only understands earthly things. We have only learned
to be aware of our earthly existence, but we have not come to understand
anything of the world beyond. Thus the goal of human existence has been
immensely narrowed down, and the primary focus shifted towards leading only a
comfortable, or at least a subsistent, life. And when certain groups of
individuals exceed boundaries and intrude upon the comfort of other groups,
there are bound to be acts of vengeance. After years of such exchanges of
violence, the original reason for the problems are conveniently effaced from
memory, and each side only sees the wrongful acts of the other.
Therefore, even
if it is possible for the leaders of our two nations to amicably work together,
they first have to resolve the problems within the respective peoples. And they
can only do so by galvanising their people towards a deeper recognition
of the source of these problems. In the end, however, it lies with the
people themselves to make the recognition and the concomitant change.
And this change,
above all, requires the Knowledge of the Laws of Creation as they really are!
Without the
Knowledge of these Laws, man will never know what they really are, because in
the prolonged intellectual development, he has lost the ability to see them in
their full magnitude. Some yogis, gurus and prophets have seen various
manifestations of these Laws and have given us many aids for our assistance in
their writings, but they nevertheless do not contain the full picture.
And that is why, until now, the possibility of a true and complete change for
the better has never been within our reach.
But to grasp
this entire picture, one really needs the New Knowledge of Creation available
to us in a special Book, to which I have often pointed the way. This Book is the
Work “In the Light of Truth” The Grail Message, which contains the answer to
every serious spiritual and earthly question that man has ever asked in his
search for the Truth.
When everyone
has absorbed this Work of Truth and simultaneously strives to live according to
It, only then will a true change for the better emerge. There is no
point simply accepting It as the Truth, or merely reading It every day and
memorising passages from It, or even understanding It in an intellectual sense.
The Truth has to be lived in everything we think, say and do, indeed even in
the very breath we take! It is the constant living of the Truth that
brings about the transformation and the change for the better. And the decision
for this lies in our hands, not only in the hands of our leaders.
That, then,
becomes the “irreversible peace process”, longed for by so many in both our
nations. For when man absorbs and lives according to the Knowledge of the Laws
of Creation, he is no more a source of dissension, but becomes instead a furthering
element in Creation. He thereby brings about peace in his home, in his
work, in his community, in his nation and in all Creation!
