There is a third Law, which works in conjunction with the other
two Laws that we examined in the preceding essays. This is the Law
of Spiritual Gravity. In order to understand the working of this
Law, we will have to look far beyond the limits of the physical
universe, inasmuch as that is possible to survey with the power of
our intuition.
That is to say, we must seek beyond the bounds of material
substance with our intuitive perception. This is not very easy for
many, as most people believe that only what they can see exists,
i.e. only what they can perceive with the help of their physical
senses. But what they fail to realise is that these senses are
already very limited and that even within the physical world they
are unable to perceive everything. For instance, the human
eye is not able to perceive microscopic organisms, nor is it able
to examine what takes place on other planets, unless it uses
instruments that are precisely adapted to the nature of the realms
that it is trying to observe. It needs these aids, otherwise its
vision is limited to a very small range of perception.
Hence we should be able to accept that there is, at the very
least, something beyond this physical universe. If we cannot do
that, then our concept of Creation is merely limited to this
physical universe with nothing else besides it. If that is the
case, then there cannot also be a God, because we have chosen to
believe in and accept only that which we can see, hear, taste,
smell and feel, i.e. only that which we can perceive physically.
At this particular point, all seekers of the Truth must come to a
halt. If there is no God, then what is the point of seeking? We
might as well go on our way, living solely to gratify our
materialistic desires, and forget about everything else. All
arguing about spiritual things then becomes absolutely useless and
we are merely wasting our time, because there is nothing else to
really live for.
These words are therefore only for those who can easily accept
that there is a definite substance beyond the nature of this
physical world. It is only in this manner that one can understand
the concept of a Primordial Source from which Creation came into
being. The various scientific theories about the coming-into-being
of the Universe fail to take this into account, because they
assume that there is no God. But there is a God, Who is obviously
not of the same nature as we are, otherwise we would be
able to see and perceive Him. This is in accordance with the Law
of Attraction of Homogeneous Species, for only similar species can
connect to and recognise one another. God is Perfect beyond all
imagination, since with Him there is no possibility of imbalance
and injustice. But we, being so far removed from Him through the
difference in species, cannot perceive Him.
Now between this our physical universe and the Primordial Source,
there are a great many "realms" or "planes of existence", each
of which is actually a complete universe. All of these planes
comprise Creation!
Creation is thereby divided into many planes of substance. This
physical universe or "earth-plane" is just one of the numerous
planes of existence. There are forms of life on every such plane,
just as there are on this earth-plane. However, the consistency of
the substance differs between these different planes. This
difference is conditioned by the nature of their respective
densities.
The material world in which we live, for instance, is dense and
coarse in nature. The spiritual world, on the other hand, is very
light and luminous. Let us then imagine the same process of
gravity, which we can see operating in our physical universe,
extended in its working to all the various spheres of existence.
We will then conclude that the lighter planes stand at the summit
of Creation and that the denser planes sink to the bottom of
Creation.
It becomes easier to think of all this if we imagine the concept
of "radiation". As science has proved beyond all doubt, all
matter is simply a consequence of radiation. Every object, every
fluid, every perceptible and imperceptible substance has a
definite radiation. There are also different levels of radiation
in Creation, which have taken on form as the various planes of
Creation. All matter is itself one particular species of radiation
that is fundamentally dense in nature. It can also be further
classified into many sub-species. On the other hand, the Spiritual
Realm is the highest and lightest kind of radiation in Creation.
It comprises the Heavens, where many luminous beings dwell.
Some may consider this far-fetched, but in reality, it is not so.
We need only look back into the legends of our ancestors and note
how many of the gods and goddesses are supposed to live in the
Heavens above. This means nothing more than that they dwell in a
higher sphere or plane that is lighter in density than the
physical, which is therefore anchored above this
earth-plane. Again, in the Bible, we find it stated that Jesus
Christ ascended into the Heavens after His Resurrection, which
means that He went back up the various planes of Creation to the
point of His Divine Origin.
When Creation was formed, it separated out into planes, each of
varying density - the lighter at the top and the heavier sinking
to the bottom. This is the effect of the Law of Spiritual Gravity.
This process can be compared to a fractional distillation column,
where crude oil separates into different kinds of hydrocarbons
based on the density of its constituents. The lightest methane
gases separate out first at the top where the temperatures are the
highest, while denser hydrocarbons like bitumen distil out only at
the cooler bottom of the distillation plant. This process roughly
depicts the operation of the Law of Spiritual Gravity.
We should not think that this Law is perhaps an extension of the
phenomenon of gravity that we observe on earth. In fact, it is the
other way round: what we see today operating as the laws of
physics are nothing but a reflection of the higher Primordial Laws
instituted by God.
This, too, would be considered far-fetched by many people. But if
we believe in God, then we know that He has instituted all the
Laws of Creation, which manifest here on earth as the Laws of
Nature. Therefore even the visible and measurable process of
physical gravity must be an extension of the Law of Spiritual
Gravity.
According to this Law, anything that is material or tied to matter
is dense, while all that is spiritual or connected to the
spiritual is light. Materialists and intellectuals only connect
themselves to the material world and are therefore ethereally
bound to it. Their souls become dense because they chain
themselves to matter. After passing over into the beyond, they are
still tied to the World of Matter, to the lower ethereal planes of
Creation, and are unable to ascend upwards since they are weighed
down by their own volition. Consequently they will have to return
to the earth to retrieve what they missed before so that they can
continue on the upward path.
On the other hand, genuinely spiritual people connect themselves
to the Luminous Heights. Hence their souls become more luminous
and spiritually light. Being spiritual has nothing of course to do
with being religious! At the present time, these two concepts are
unfortunately mutually exclusive. True spirituality goes hand in
hand with keeping the flame of one's intuition alive in order to
work for the genuine benefit of all mankind, whereas religion
focuses more on upholding doctrines, rituals and traditions.
Such devout people, who are concomitantly striving for purity,
will always be helped from Above and simultaneously connected with
the more luminous spheres. As a result, when they do pass over
into the beyond, their inner "lightness" will uplift them to the
more luminous realms.
Hence the well-known Archimedes' Principle operates far into the
spiritual spheres, because it is the effect of the living Law of
Spiritual Gravity!
This is such a natural process that everyone should be able to
picture it quite vividly. However, on the very account of its
perfect naturalness and simplicity, many will also reject these
statements as incredulous, because they have closed themselves to
all deeper thinking about higher things. Consequently only those
who are prepared to reflect with their intuition will be able to
comprehend the process as it really takes place.
He who connects himself with that which is base, who knows only
the gratification of the flesh, be it through his indulgence in
the vices of society or even through his belief solely in material
things, becomes spiritually dense. He constantly ties himself to
this world through his own desire for a purely material lifestyle.
The Law of Reciprocal Action brings him a spiritually "heavy"
karma that automatically binds him to the material world through
the Law of Spiritual Gravity. He becomes unable to free himself
for a long time to come.
But he who strives towards the Luminous Heights, who keeps his
thoughts, words and deeds pure, in whose soul not a trace of guilt
can be found, since he offers his love to his Maker and to all
creatures, will not be weighed down and bound to the base material
world. At the moment he is called away from his earthly existence,
his soul, spiritually light, will float above all the denser
planes, ascending swiftly into the Luminous Realms, where he may
dwell in the eternal Love of God!
Most of us are a long way from this goal. But if we strive with
all our might to cast aside our personal weaknesses and build upon
our spiritual strengths, then we will - in time - attain this
goal!
