It is an unfortunate development that people tend to curse one another, even if only in thought. Some use words, either
in public or in private. Others take it a step too far, performing "pujas" or going to a holyman who performs certain
rituals, with the aim of causing harm to another person. And then when something happens to the victim of his curse,
man is happy and rejoices.
The process can be easily surveyed according to the Law of Karma. Every word we say takes on a living form in the
World of Finer Matter. The form goes out, or it radiates, according to the nature of the words spoken. In addition, thoughts
also take on a different form on an even finer level than do the words. But nevertheless, thoughts and words are not
without effect - contrary to what many people believe today.
When a person pronounces a curse on another, the thoughts and words are directed on the victim and the forms attach themselves
to him, attempting to overcome him and subdue him according to the nature of the forms. But this they can only do if the
victim bears something similar within him, either from this earth-life or from a previous one. If he consciously or
unconsciously yields to them, he himself calls them in and will have to experience them. This can only happen
if he loses his natural self-control and becomes perhaps too indolent or superficial, striving only after material
things and without any spiritual support from the beyond.
For this reason, the best way to ward off curses is to arm oneself with the Knowledge of the Laws of Creation, and apply
these Laws daily. If a person submits himself to God and His Laws, and shows only pure and genuine love to all
creatures, this volition of his takes on another form in the Ethereal World of Fine Matter. This form is luminous
and acts like a protective cloak around him.
If curses are then directed at him, they are repelled by the purity of this luminous cloak, because the Creation-Law
of Attraction of Homogeneous Species can only permit similar kinds to attract. Through his pure volition, he provides
no ground for dark and evil curses to penetrate.
Regardless of whether or not the victim suffers, the consequences for the perpetrator are no less terrible. Through
the Law of Karma he reaps on himself a harvest of his curses, fully ripened and aggregated with similar evil thought-forms
from the Ethereal World according to the Law of Attraction of Homogeneous Species. When he passes over into the beyond
or returns to the earth later, he may experience the full effects of his curse. Thereby, what he wished for another, he
received himself.
In these happenings, we can easily recognise the inflexible Justice of our Creator, Who never lets anyone suffer unless they
themselves ask for it! We are never given anything that we do not deserve or called for, in one way or another.
Christ's Admonition: "Love thy neighbour as thyself" is therefore the key to correct living.
Hence, all those who curse their fellowmen without thinking, who perform pujas and other "sacred" rituals to
cause harm to their neighbours, are only really cursing themselves!
